MN River Farm Tour at Cedar Crate Farm
Description
Join Dan and Lara Zimmerli of Cedar Crate Farm for a farm tour of their 5 acre farm near Waldorf, MN. Dan and Lara raise 3 acres of vegetables and pasture laying hens on 2 acres. We'll talk about some of our favorite farm tools and do a field and pasture walk. The tour is informal and social in nature with plenty of time for questions and conversation.
Topics will include:
- Cover crop blends, pros & cons, equipment and timing.
- Crop cultivation with Tilmor walk-behind tractor and tooling.
- Pack shed tour and experience with FSA Farm Storage Facility Loan and MDA Value Added Grant
- Irrigation: timers, drip vs. overhead and what we've learned.
- Our NRCS EQIP Tunnel Experience with a Zimmerman high tunnel.
- Farmers Friend Caterpillar Tunnel pros and cons.
