TC Growers: Compost!

09/25/2021 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM CT

Description

The next gathering of the Twin Cities Metro Growers Network:

Composting is as old as agriculture. Older than that of course, Mother Nature’s version of composting is why we have soil at all! Soil is alive. Soil is biology, not geology. With composting we mimic nature at our gardens and farms. We recycle nutrients. We want productive soils for growing health-full food! Come over to Urban Ventures along the Greenway to tour their composting operations. Along with our hosts, Karl Hakanson and veteran composters Russ Henry and Chesney Engquist of Minnehaha Falls Landscaping will engage the Network in a discussion on creating quality compost for soil quality.

Topics:

-What you need to make compost - materials, infrastructure, tools

-How to build a good compost pile

-How to manage the pile to make high quality compost

-How to use finished compost

Join the conversation! The event is free.

Address: Urban Ventures Greenway Gardens, 2841 S. 5th Ave. Minneapolis, MN 55408

SFA's COVID-19 Preparedness Plan will be implemented at this event. Registration strongly encouraged for planning purposes. Walk ups welcome.
