Adaptive Grazing for Oak Savanna Management

Description

This free field day will be held at the Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge. Lunch will be provided to those who registered before October 18. Participants are encouraged to come prepared to be outside all day and dressed for the weather. We will be touring several sites around the refuge that will require walking short distances.

The agenda includes:

Overview of the Refuge, oak savanna and grazing management from Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge staff.
A visit to University of Minnesota research plots, discussion with Ph.D candidate Austin Yantes.
Caravan & carpool to multiple sites at the refuge.
Review of grazing management at the site in 2020 and 2021.
The Silvopasture Learning Network.
Plenty of time for questions and discussion!

This field day is funded by the Legislative Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources. The event is part of a join effort between the University of Minnesota Extension, SFA, Great River Greening, and the Center for Integrated Natural Resource Agricultural Management.

 

SFA's COVID-19 Preparedness Plan will be implemented at this event. Registration strongly encouraged for planning purposes. As of 10/18, the lunch order has already been placed. All are welcome to continue to register, but should plan to bring their own lunches.
